Framingham runs an online records request portal through FOIA Direct. The Framingham records portal lets you submit a public records request without visiting the station. You fill out a form with your details and describe the records you need. The system tracks your request so you can check its status online.

The portal is the fastest way to make a request. Include the date of the incident, names of people involved, and the type of report you want. A clear, detailed request helps the records division find what you need without back-and-forth. Once submitted, the city must respond within 10 business days. Framingham does extend this to 15 business days in cases where the standard period would be too burdensome, as allowed under state rules.

The city's Records Access Officer is P.J. Iversen. You can reach the RAO at 508-532-5602 or by email at rao@framinghamma.gov. If you have questions about a pending request or need help with the portal, the RAO's office can assist.

Framingham Police Records Fees

Framingham charges the same fees as other Massachusetts agencies under 950 CMR 32.08. Standard copies are $0.05 per page. The first two hours of staff search time are free. After that, the city charges $25 per hour. If the total cost will be high, the records division should let you know before doing the work.

Crash reports can also be ordered through the BuyCrash portal for a small per-report fee. This state-run tool is available around the clock. Framingham crash reports usually appear on the site within about a week after the officer files them. If your report is not there yet, call the records division at (508) 532-5920 to ask about it.

Note: The city will notify you in advance if your request will cost more than $0.05 per page in search fees.

Framingham Records and State Law

You can appeal any denial to the Supervisor of Records at the Secretary of the Commonwealth's office. The appeal is free and can be filed online.
